MY SUMMER BUCKET LIST

June 22, 2018

Is it just me or does summer seem to fly by? This year I decided to put together a summer bucket list, so I make sure to take the time to spend it with loved ones and celebrate all of what summer has to offer!

Summer Bucket List

01. Go on a road trip – I definitely get wanderlust during the summer. This year I won’t be able to go far, but a weekend or a day trip to somewhere new is a must!

02. Go kayaking – My favorite water activity! This year I plan on finally exploring what South Bend has to offer for kayak rentals. I’d also love to hit Lake Michigan this year!

03. Go on bike rides – I plan on being glued to my bike this summer. I’ve collected bike trail maps, and I can already picture myself riding through the local parks, on the River Walk, and down some country roads.

04. Have a beach trip – I grew up next to Lake Michigan, and it isn’t far from where I live now. It just wouldn’t be summer without a trip to the beach. If you need to find me this summer, you can catch me on the shore. I’ll be the one in the big floppy hat.

05. Cookout with friends – One of my favorite things about our home is how many people we can cram in it! Summertime is the best time to get everyone together, play some lawn games, and cookout!

06. Go to Farmer’s Markets – There is an abundance of Farmer’s Markets near me and I plan on being in produce heaven this summer. My favorite fruit is cherries, and I happen to live close to Michigan, which is basically the cherry Mecca of the United States.

07. Go stargazing – I love going on nighttime walks and looking up at the stars. I have a very specific goal for this year. I’ve always wanted to use a telescope to go stargazing, but I’ve never had the chance. This year, I am going to try to find an organization or someone who will let me use their equipment.

08. Take the dog on a lot of walks – Our energetic dog loves going on long walks around the neighborhood. This summer I want to take her to new and exciting places. This includes taking her on her first visit to a dog park! We have been working hard on her manners outside, and we think she is ready. Plus, it will be a great excuse to show off one of the custom dog collars I made for her!

09. Go to flea markets/antique stores/estate sales/garage sales – I love finding unique and special items for my home. I have found so many treasures over the years, and there are some fantastic flea markets and antique stores in my area. These are summer musts if you are like me and love rummaging around for a good deal!

10. Visit the zoo – I have to make a trip to our local zoo this summer. One of the great things that our zoo offers are little classes that you can sign up for. I’ve been able to get up close and personal with bats, owls, and chinchillas. It makes for a great date or family outing.

11. Take a Nature Class – Local parks often offer classes on a variety of topics like bird watching, edible plants, and more. A lot of times these classes are even free! I’m totally going to impress my friends with my new found botanical knowledge.

12. Experience Shinrin – Yoku    – Also called Forest Bathing, Shinrin – Yoku is the Japanese practice of spending time in nature to nurture your body and spirit, by unplugging and practicing techniques to connect with mother nature. To learn more about Shinrin – Yoku, I suggest this book, which has exercises on how to make connections with nature. You can even find guided tours!

13. Have a Waterballoon Fight – I love the idea of getting a ton of friends together for one big epic water balloon fight. There are also tons of water balloon fight games out there. Water balloon dodgeball will be a great activity at my cookout!

14. Go to a street festival – I like to keep an eye out for any local street festivals in my area. I love the positivity at these events, trying new foods, meeting new people, and it is a really good way to connect with the community.

15. Go wine tasting – Do I really need to give you an excuse to wine tasting (haha)? I love driving out into the countryside and hitting up all the local wineries. There are even bus tours around me that will drive you from winery to winery -convenient and safe!

I hope you are inspired by my summer bucket list! Be sure to comment below if you have any great ideas for summer activities or if you have your own summer bucket list. If you do any of the activities above, show me on Instagram using #mytrinketsandlove.
