MY MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

May 11, 2018

Today, I will be continuing my series on my skincare routines and breaking down what I use during my morning skincare routine. If you haven’t read the first part of my Nightly Skincare Routine., I recommend going back and reading that first!

In my first post, I gave you a shortened streamlined version of the 10-Step-Korean Skincare program for the evening and my morning skincare routine is very similar. If you are like me and not a morning person (AT ALL), every minute of sleep counts, which means that every minute spent getting ready is precious! I don’t want to spend a half hour prepping my face and THEN have to put on makeup, and I’m sure you don’t either! What I do want are the gorgeous results from a regular 10-step plan, and the products I’ve used below, are ones that I’ve selected so I can get those results quickly.

Before we jump in, I want to mention that I am not a dermatologist…I went to art school. So, with that said, the products included in this post are products that I’ve tested on myself and work for me. Everyone’s skin is unique and can react to products differently. What I’d recommend for any new skin product is “patch testing” it for a week before fully committing to a full application.

To patch test simply put a small amount of the product on a place of your body that isn’t easily seen, like the side of your neck. Continue to apply the product in the same spot every day for a week while watching for any negative reactions – including burning, redness, hives, splotches, and breakouts. Every product I listed below I took the time to test, so remember to take this slowly and give your skin some time to be introduced to each product before adding a new one.

Here are the products that I use. For reference, my skin is on the dry side, but many of these products can be for all skin types. I suggest checking out the reviews for each product to see what goes well with your skin type.

PRODUCTS IN ORDER OF HOW I USE THEM:

Tip: When putting on products always apply from the lightest products and work your way up to the heaviest ones.

01. Toner – If you’ve read my post on my nighttime skincare routine, you know that I LOVE toner! It helps balance your skin’s pH levels and it helps minimize pores, who doesn’t love that? For my morning routine, it plays an important role by locking in a layer of moister.

02. Moisturizer – More Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream! Yes, I couldn’t get enough of it in the evenings, and here’s why. It’s lightweight, soothes the skin, and it can even be used to replace your makeup primer!

03. Sunscreen – If you are going to skip any product on this list, please DON’T skip the sunscreen! You may scoff, and think to yourself about how you work indoors all day and don’t need to wear it. I would then ask you if you go near windows, step outside, drive in your car because all those things expose you to UV light! If you aren’t worried about the more serious effects of UV light on your skin, at least take into consideration that it accelerates signs of aging (fine lines, deep wrinkles, dark spots, etc).

Shiseido Senka is by far my favorite daily facial sunscreen. It isn’t oily or heavy at all, in fact, it actually feels like a primer. I’ve worn it while in the blazing sun at Disney World and didn’t burn at all, and I usually get a sunburn just looking at the sun!

04. Eye Cream – This is another product from Mizon, and it is AMAZING! As someone who has dark circles under their eyes and has fine lines, this is one of the few products I’ve seen results from using. Also, it doesn’t have to just be used under the eyes, it can be used to treat fine lines anywhere on your face and neck. Some people use it on their entire face, they love it so much!

There are so many products you could add to your morning skincare routine, but it is all about what makes you feel good and refreshed and finding the right products to help with your problem areas. My routine has become one of the most essential steps in helping me come out of my sleepy fog. I can’t imagine starting my day without it!

If all these steps feel like too much, remember to take it slow, and when in doubt – wear sunscreen!
