This set of pruning sheers is fantastic, I wish I'd bought them sooner. The Fiskars brand is quality. These are heavy in the hand and overall very well made and quality. The low-friction blade coating makes for the smoothest cuts. I purchased these to do light hand-pruning on my fruit trees and I am impressed.

My favorite feature about these sheers is the spring mechanism that they employ, it is hidden within the metal of the cutters and has no chance of falling off or falling out. Secondly, the locking mechanism is better than the flip tab, it slides into place and locks so there's no chance of them becoming locked by accident.

I've had one pair of these for several years. Saw this sale price and ordered two more, one for hubby and one for gift giving. They stay sharp, are easy and comfortable to use, and they have a lifetime warranty. You may be thinking, "Yea, lifetime warranty, right". Well, I think they can offer that because they know most of their products won't be bad. I've used other Fiskars products for years as well, and only once did I have a problem. A little rotary cutter broke where the blade was attached. I contacted Fiskars, described the product and sent a photo. The very nice customer service rep said they would immediately replace it free of charge. About a week later it arrived. So I trust Fiskars to stand behind their products should the need arise. Highly recommended.

The are few things more irritating in the garden than poorly designed and manufactured secateurs. Not only do you struggle to do essential pruning, but you risk damaging your precious plants because of the inadequacies of the tool. Not any more! These Fiskars secateurs are not only the best I've ever used, they are the best I've ever seen - they simply ooze strength, sharpness, and efficiency. They also fit into my very average hand like they were personally designed just for me - I look forward to using them!

Just an aside for those not familiar with the purposes of the two main types of secateurs - by-pass and anvil. I read a lot of reviews particularly complaining about anvil secateurs. These are of very limited functionality compared with by-pass secateurs. But, their crushing then cutting action makes anvil secateurs generally much better at cutting dry dead wood than by-pass secateurs - which tend to force the blades apart when used on the harder dead wood. When used on green wood, however, anvil secateurs crushing action tends to damage the plantsform a soft pulverised layer on the anvil which makes them useless at cutting. By-pass secateurs, on the other hand, are excellent at cutting green wood, highly accurate, and don't damage your precious plants. In summary, therefore, anvil secateurs for pruning dead wood, by-pass secateurs for pruning everything else.
